With the Madoffs in the news again, one cannot help but think of greed and what it does to people. Whether it's the Enron folks, shysters conning old ladies on the telephone, or the host of dirty deed doers in our Watchdog section, one has to start wondering how people can still think "this won't happen to me." Well, Congressman Rangel, it did happen to you! Keep your eye on Watchdog in 2011 if you enjoy seeing history repeat itself.
After former tennis star Boris Becker avoided a jail sentence for tax evasion in a German court in 2002, he commented, "This was my most important victory." Serving time in prison is not Becker's preferred type of serving, I can assure you. Whatever rackets we see people get themselves into, the net effect for most of them will be landing in hot water. We will bring that news to you!
Take a moment to reflect on the past year and rejoice in the fact that you're not in the Watchdog section of AccountingWEB!
