Taxpayer sparring with the IRS seems to have climbed to a new
level. Last week we heard of a Colorado man who bribed an IRS
agent with baseball tickets and now faces a huge fine and years
in prison. This week the news brings us a story about a murder-
for-hire case where an IRS agent was the intended victim.
Personally, I think using an experienced tax accountant to go
to battle on your behalf is a much more civilized way of
dealing with tax controversy, but that would of course entail a
level of thought that might have kept these guys out of tax
trouble in the first place.
