Editor's Note
Several states voted for (or against) tax initiatives in last
week's election. Massachusetts voted against cutting taxes,
while Colorado voted against raising taxes. Florida voted for
property tax exemptions, while Maine voted down an increase in
beverage taxes. How did your state vote on tax issues, and why
did they vote the way they did? Let us hear from you on the tax
changes in your state.

Questions & Advice
Service or sales?
Let's say I want to program i-phones for my customers. I give
them 2 options:
Option 1 - Purchase a new programmed phone from me that
includes the cost of the new phone.
Option 2 - Send in their existing phone and pay me for the
service to program it for them.
Is option 1 sales and option 2 service?

Negative beta on regression analysis
I was trying to calc a beta for use in a WACC calculation and
when I compared my company's returns to the S&P 500 average for
the last 5 years, I got a negative beta. I'm not sure why this
would be negative, any ideas? We utilize transfer pricing, so
one thought was that this could be "skewing" results.
