Editor's Note
So I'm torn, because I see the benefit of going paperless, but
at the same time, I'm watching newspapers go out of business and
thinking that might be good for the environment but it's not
good for my psyche. But that's neither here nor there, because
this particular paperless e-newsletter is all about switching
your office environment to a paperless one. I recently attended
a RootWorks conference in Indianapolis where Darren Root is
successfully teaching small accounting firms how to make the
transition to a paperless office. The change is coming. Are you
on board?

Is a paperless office right for you?
The concept of the paperless office is great in theory, but
perfection is difficult to achieve. Anticipated high initial
costs and complicated operational and process changes might make
going paperless seem unattainable and are probably enough to put
most firms off. Don't hesitate to start by converting to a
semi-paperless office instead.

you'll not only save trees and buy fewer ink cartridges, but
you'll save in many other ways as well.

designed to function independently of one another, making it
necessary to run several different applications to perform two
tasks that go hand-in-hand. Is it possible for workflow and
document management to coexist? Here are some details to
consider when combining a workflow and document management system.

Cloud computing has slowly been gaining acceptance on the
traditional desktop computing model over the past few years. Web
