Publisher's Note

I love to tour factories and see the processes used to manufacture and ship products. I suspect that many of you enjoy this aspect, too, when you're out at client sites. It's mind-boggling when you consider how much manufacturing has changed in the last 100 years.

While touring Miller Brewing and Jelly Belly around Milwaukee recently, I heard of a news report that declared Milwaukee the #1 city in America for clipping coupons. Where I live in Columbus, Ohio, we proudly come in at #7. I'm hanging my hat on this big time, let me tell ya!

FAS 161 - Disclosures about Derivative Instruments and Hedging Activities, an amendment to FAS 133
FAS 161 is effective for fiscal years beginning after November 15, 2008 and early adoption is encouraged. Prior year disclosures are not required at initial adoption (i.e. only one year in 2009, two years in 2010 and three years in 2011 and thereafter). For a calendar year company, the first quarter 2009 10Q would need to include the new disclosures....

IRS 2008 draft forms released: Speak now or forever hold your peace

The Internal Revenue Service has released for public comment draft revisions to Form 1065, U.S. Return of Partnership Income, Form 1120, U.S. Corporation Income Tax Return, and certain related schedules.
