Publisher's Note
Today’s business traveler is having to make a conscious choice: take the laptop or solely rely on the PDA? As difficult and unpleasant as going through airport security can be these days, many people welcome any opportunity at all to minimize the items in the security juggling act.
As handheld devices become more like “real” computers, the question of whether business travelers might be better-served by leaving their laptops at home lurks in the minds of many. While relying exclusively on a handheld isn’t a realistic option for some folks, it’s clearly becoming easier for a boatload of travelers to make that shift.
To quote Bob Dylan:
“And the first one now will later be last...for the times they are a-changin'.”

Airfare purchased for business and personal travel
If an airfare ticket purchased by the company for an employee
includes time for personal travel to a location other than the
business destination are their any tax implications? If that
purchase was only allowed because the employee had to cancel a
ticket purchased personally to accommodate the business trip,
does that make a difference in the tax consequence?
